* Iraqiya ministers boycotted sessions “under threat”
BAGHDAD, Jan. 5 (AKnews) – The eight Iraqiya List minister who boycotted Council of Ministers session are under pressure from their List.
Prime Minister’s adviser Maryam al-Rais told AKnews that half of Iraqiya’s ministers said they were threatened not to attend the cabinet sessions.
It is more than two weeks since Iraqiya ministers and Representatives have boycotted cabinet and Council of Representatives sessions in protest of “unilateral rule” by PM Nouri al-Maliki and “a lack of real partnership in government”.
Yesterday under an order from Maliki six of the ministers were officially granted leaves of absence and other ministers were assigned to replace them temporarily. The other two Iraqiya ministers themselves handed over demands for official leaves of absence.
The decision led former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi’s Iraqiya List to reiterate their accusation that Maliki is exercising “unilateral” rule because the ministers only boycotted sessions while they continued with the daily procedures of their offices.
