called on the member of the Economic Commission Rep. Nora Salem to allow international companies to invest phosphate to be a financial resource that another competitor for oil.
She Salem in a statement quoted by the agency (news) that Iraq had amassed a large metal phosphate as second only to Morocco, can exploit this wealth for the advancement of the Iraqi economy, and add a financial resource and another appointed by the state budget. She said is not true that the country’s economy remains one-sided dependent on oil, because the phosphate sector is important, but neglected year after (2003) as a result of the security conditions experienced by Iraq during that period. And she said that Iraq has great economic potential of phosphates, sulfur and other minerals found under the ground has not been exploited through investment and attracting international companies.
