The Turkish company ENKA has won a contract for the construction of a new power plant in Iraq, said a statement by the Ministry of Electricity.
The ministry said minister Kareem al-Jumaili signed the contract with ENKA representatives in Baghdad.
The $235 million contract is the latest in a series of deals with foreign firms which aim at putting an end to power outages in the country in two years.
The statement said the plant, to produce 500 megawatts, will take 16 months to complete.
