11:12 AM [BGG] My views are – Our next pivotal point is the “in-country” summit of leaders. The results of this gathering in the next day or two (if they actually have it) will be critical.
11:13 AM [BGG] If all parties are agreeable to actually doing what they said they would – we could be looking at a fairly quick conclusion…as in the next week(ish)…
11:14 AM [BGG] If not, and there is more delay/friction – it is highly likely you will see a major “shake-up” which will still only take a month or so…(my take).

11:16 AM [BGG] I could easily see Talibani “resigning” to take another job, such as one of the all-important Security or Defense Ministries – which would make a lot of sense because these are so contentious jobs and Talibani is a guy who is liked by everyone. That might serve to put everyone on an “even keel”.
11:17 AM [mammat] BGG Yes…that could easily happen. But he would make such a great PM.
11:18 AM [mammat] Will Maliki allow Allawi to be seated as head of the Council?
11:18 AM [BGG] The next thing to look for though – in this ever changing picture is – Talibani would also make an excellent “interim PM” should they decide Maliki is more trouble than he’s worth. They are getting close to that point now. He needs to look out – they already have his successor picked.

11:19 AM [BGG] mammat – I don’t think Maliki has the option of saying no to that…his only defense has been to stall.

11:20 AM [BGG] mammat – I think he lands in one of those spots – no doubt. I do not expect him to “retire” – that is a poor translation (IMHO). He’s just leaving that job.
